Email Interview #2: Little Bead Store
Posted on | December 28, 2009 | 3 Comments

I had a chance to conduct an email interview with Little Bead Store. Little Bead Store is a blogshop or online shopping site that sells cheap trendy handmade korean accessories at very affordable prices. You can read my review about them here. I have given them a rating of best deal.
*Start of Interview*
1) Could you tell me more about yourself/yourselves? Who are the people behind your site?
This actually started from a hobby of mine (Kendice) which was jewellery making. I wanted to create handmade jewellery and put them up for sale. However, it was really difficult to keep coming up with new designs and time consuming as well. My friend, who had contacts with accessories-makers (I can’t think of a better word!) in Korea, introduced them to me. I managed to get another friend, who is a web designer, to design and programme the site for me. This was how www.littlebeadstore.com started =)
2) What do you sell?
We sell handmade Korean-style accessories that aims to be affordable yet unique. We believe that each customer is special and we try our best to make sure that every customer is satisfied with our products.
3) Which is your best selling item?
We actually have a few hot items. We constantly update them on our website on the main page. The following are a few all time best sellers so far:
Crystal Heart earring
Dangling ribbon earrings
Romantic garden earrings
Sweet lace n flower necklace (silver)
Gold cherry earrings
Cute handbag n comb earrings (pink)
4) Could you share one tip that your site have to ensure safe shopping online?
We do not collect payment until the items are available. This is to ensure that customers pay for what they get and to avoid a situation where the item is sold out or no longer in production.
5) Any other remarks or last words
None. Thanks!

Hi, I’m in doubt if this blogshop should be labeled as selling handmade jewellery. The jewellery up for sale are all mass produced, factory made and comes in bulk order. Handmade stuffs should be one of a kind, limited in quantity and viewed as a form of art. I think the description “cheap trendy handmade korean accessories” should be removed and replaced with just “cheap trendy korean imported jewellery” in order not to mislead buyers. Thanks!

Hi Mizukage,
thank you for your feedbacks and suggestions.
Indeed many times when we hear handmade stuffs, there is a connotation that the items are unique and one of a kind. However, i have encountered handmade stuff that are mass produced and not unique. My understanding is that LittleBeadStore products are handmade as shared in their email interview.
But i do appreciate the feedbacks and suggestions you have made.
I have sent an email to LittleBeadStore to clarify on this matter if they are really handmade. I hope they will get back to us with regards to this.
So till then, see you around at my blog. Do feel free to drop me your feedbacks on my other posts too.

Hi Mizukage
Thank you for your comment. To clarify, all jewelery are actually handmade, whether they be from a factory and mass produced or made at home. The ribbons, charms, beads, pearls etc still has to be put together by hand. To answer your question, yes my items are not personally made by me (although I can do customisation to your preference if you wish) and are imported (but not in bulk, usually only in 1-2 pieces each design) as mentioned in the interview. Nevertheless, if the description is misleading, I would be happy to accept your suggestion of “cheap trendy korean imported jewellery”. Thank you!
